Module 11 - Psychological Therapies and Social Interventions

Purpose

The module describes the use of psychology and social interventions in the treatment of mental disorders, and looks specifically at their use in people with an intellectual disability.

Target audience

The module is intended to provide information to individuals working with people with an intellectual disability, wanting to increase their understanding of the knowledge and theory about working with people who are on medication for the treatment of mental disorders or challenging behaviour.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this module, you should be able to: Have an understanding of the major types of psychological intervention in clinical use. Understand the importance of social interventions.
