intellectual disability.

It may not be possible to make a firm

diagnosis in people with severe or profound

disability or lack of communication.

The assessment process may take longer and

be more dependent on the observations of

others.

Treatment of schizophrenia and other

psychoses in people with an intellectual

disability is similar to treament in the general

population, although people with an intellectual disability  are likely to need a lot of

supports and assistance.
